New Features Bring More Instructional Delivery and Assessment Flexibility to the Indigo Learning System
Wireless handheld system now includes electronic web clipping and text editing capabilities
Pembroke Pines, Fla. – Jan. 25, 2007 – LearningSoft LLC, the producer of affordable, wireless computing platforms for education, has introduced new features to its Indigo Learning System. The wireless handheld network for K-12 classrooms now includes a text editor and also accommodates Web clippings and e-book clippings.
The handheld devices that make up the core of the Indigo Learning System function as interactive instructional content players, e-book readers, and text editors. Through the accompanying Indigo Classroom Manager software, educators can easily create on-the-fly assessments using the Indigo test bank of questions aligned with state standards for math, language arts, science and social sciences available in Indigo. Additionally they can easily create their own questions and instructional content or import third-party content. The handheld computers enable students to receive and complete digital polls and other assessment questions, including essay questions. The results are automatically sent to the teacher’s computer via a wireless network and can be used to observe improvement over time or as a projection of how students will score on state tests.
According to David Cole, CEO of LearningSoft, “With the new clipping features, teachers can simultaneously expand and control the scope of lesson material by sending specific Web content or e-book pages directly to students’ handhelds. And the new text editor enables users of the handheld devices to perform intensive writing activities such as answering essay questions, journaling, or taking notes.”
