LearningSoft Awarded Patent
for Adaptive Assessment System
Pembroke Pines,
Fla. - Mar. 21, 2006 -The United States Patent and Trademark Office
has granted LearningSoft LLC, a hand-held computing and assessment
company, Patent No. 6,988,096. Entitled "Adaptive Content Delivery
System And Method," the patent covers the company's proprietary
Learningtrac adaptive assessment system.
Learningtrac
uses artificial intelligence to optimize assessment and test preparation
for individual students' strengths and weaknesses. The system uses
a student's own knowledge base, learning patterns and measures of
attention to the material to continually adapt curriculum content
to the student's needs and spur skill development. Educators are
able to monitor individual student assessments as well as the entire
classroom progress.
"Learningtrac took more than three
years and $3 million to develop," said David Cole, CEO of LearningSoft.
"It is by far the most sophisticated and complex technology in our
portfolio, and acquiring patent protection as we productize this
core asset is an important part of our growth strategy."
In late 2006,
Learningtrac will enter LearningSoft's product line integrated into
its Indigo Learning System, which is debuting at the 2006 Florida
Educational Technology Conference. The system is currently being
piloted in Hawaii.
